Short Term Sites
Need a web site, but don't need it
forever? Connecting Folks can help with a short term web site rental. A rental site is your own web site, with your
own domain name, implemented by Connecting Folks and available as long as you need it.
What is a short-term site?
I |
We routinely rent things we need for just a
short period of time because it is not always cost effective to purchase. We rent houses, apartments,
vacation facilities, tools, appliances, cars, moving trucks, hotel rooms, tuxedos and many, many other
things. |
It's no different with web sites. If you just need a site for a limited period of time, a short
term, or rental, site might make sense for you. We will be happy to discuss rentals services with you to help you
determine if a short term site is the right solution for you. Depending on the length of time you need the
site, it might make more sense to look at full site services. Either way, it's our privilege to help you get on the
web.
A short-term site could be the perfect solution for any one-time event
that needs coordination and communications among the participants. Your site can present information, show
pictures, and have maps and email links.

Questions About Site
Rentals
How does web site Short Term Rental Site work?
In simple terms, Connecting Folks will develop and implement a site for you and keep it live for an agreed
length of time.
How much does a short-term site cost?
There are two costs to getting you site up and running:
1) The Site Rental Fee: Short-term sites are rented for three continuous calendar
months at a time and cost $25 per 3-month period. They can include up to 5 pages and a reasonable number
(10-15) photos, documents, links and maps.
2) The Start-Up Fee: There is also a one-time fee for site set-up of $50. This fee includes
the cost of researching and registering a domain name - domain name transfers are $15 more. Additional pages
can be added to your site at a cost of $10/page one-time. The site charge increases after 9 pages. Contact us
and we will be happy to explain everything in more detail.
What's a domain name?
That's the site name that people will enter into their browser's address bar to view you site. It's often
thought of as the "www" address. Example: like, www.yourdomainname.com.
What domain name can I use?
Any domain name that is available for registration. Connecting Folks will do the research for you and give
you several from which to choose.
How long can I rent the site?
As long as you want with a minimum of three months. At some point, of course, it would make more economic
sense to have a permanent site. We can help you do the math.
How does my information get on the site?
We put it on for you - as well as pictures and/or graphics. You send it to us via email and we process it
and add it to your site.
Can the information be changed once it is on the site?
Yes, within reason. Obviously, this is a low margin and labor intensive business. A few changes during the
term of our agreement are fine. If you want to make lots of changes, we will be happy to quote for that
separately on a time and materials basis.
Are there limitations on the size of the short term sites?
Yes, but we believe you will find them very reasonable. Each short-term site can have a home page plus 4
additional pages with up to 15 photos or graphics. Additional pages can be added for a one-time fee of $10 per
page and each additional page increases the limit by 2 photos. See! Plenty.
Can I have a unique color scheme and page header graphic?
Yes, of course. The site is yours and you can put whatever you want on it. If you are not sure of what the
site should look like - we will jump in and give you some very experienced advice. All we really need is the
purpose of the site and your favorite or preferred colors and we'll take it from there. Contact us and we'll be
happy to explain the details and options.
OK, sounds interesting. Where can I review the fine print?
There's no fine print. You simply contact us, tell us what you want and for how long - we'll take it from
there.
